Speed Without Reward. My Fight at Oulton Park

Coming into Oulton Park, I felt ready. Thursday’s testing gave us a solid baseline. We were fast, focused, and things looked promising. Friday threw us a curveball in the first session, but we turned it around. One session we went quickest, just a few thousandths ahead of second. That put us P1 in the combined classification. The pace was there. We knew we had it.
Then qualifying happened.
It wasn’t even really a qualifying. Too many red flags from others. We couldn’t set a single proper lap. Because of that, a rule kicked in that placed us based on championship standings. I got stuck with P12, which didn’t reflect our speed at all.
Race 1, I didn’t even get the chance to fight. I got taken out in an incident that had nothing to do with me. Just unlucky. That moment already set the tone for a frustrating weekend.
Because of that
Race 2 grid positions were again based on championship order. I started P14. But my luck didn’t change. Opening lap, another driver got pushed and slammed into me. Front end damage. Had to pit. Ended up 3rd last.
At this point, I was angry. Disappointed. The speed we showed on Friday felt wasted. Championship points were slipping away, not because of my driving, but because of incidents out of my control.
Race 3, I started near the back again third last. But this time, I decided to make it count. Clean driving. Good decisions. Aggression where it mattered. I fought through and climbed up to P10. It wasn’t a podium, but it was something to take home. It was the one moment the weekend finally let me show what I could do.
Oulton Park was tough. Not because of lack of pace, but because racing doesn’t always reward speed. Sometimes it tests your patience, your mindset, and your ability to bounce back. And that’s exactly what I did.
I’ll take the hits, but I’m not slowing down.
